The #1 upgrade people do to their vehicle is installing a new radio. This is often times because the features or technology doesn’t meet the customers needs. This is also the best bang for your buck and the most noticeable thing. Think of your Car radio like the foundation of a house. Nothing you add-on or build-on to it will matter if the foundation is weak. Same thing happens with a lesser quality car radio. The second most upgraded item is the vehicles speakers. Most factory speakers (even in the ‘premium sound packages’) are dual cone speakers. Dual cone speakers reproduce their sound on 1 single loud speaker and often lack clarity and crisp highs.

Even the best factory speakers will leave your system sounding flat. Aftermarket speakers utilize tweeters and mid range, not cheap dual cone speakers that only cost $10 each.

Even upgrading to a cheaper aftermarket speaker known as a coaxial speaker (its known as this as there are 2 speakers in one, giving you an upgraded sound by separating your highs and lows between mid range and tweeter speakers built into one) will produce an astronomical difference in the quality of sound being reproduced. Plus not only are these factory speakers dual cone speakers, but they usually have a foam surround that melts in the Florida humidity causing the speaker to sound bad and eventually blown. A Blown speaker not only sounds bad, but it can cause irreparable damage to your sound system.
