The speakers that come with most factory vehicles sound systems are typically dual cone speakers w/out any tweeters. They are basic paper cones with foam surrounds that quickly erode over time. What does all this mean for you? Well cheaper speakers utilize paper cones and foam surrounds. The foam surrounds here in florida get moisture and with the heat will actually cause it to fall apart after a few months of use. The paper cones are rigid enough to withstand the constant abuse just listening to your radio can put on them. Instead of moving in a nice asymetrical motion they get sloppy over time and start sounding blown or like the bass is staticy.

If you are looking for something basic that just wont last or stand the test of the florida heat, then we can replace those speakers with the same cheap stuff that the factory puts in there. Or you can get an upgrade that WILL LAST. Our quality speakers feature a treated pulp cone for added rigidity or a polypropolyne cone (a sophisticated form or plastic) and a high quality rubberized surround. Using these higher quality components can ensure the speakers won’t erod from humidity or heat. It’ll ensure that they will stand the test of time. There are still upgrades required to get the best sound output possible. Instead of having a dual-cone set-up you need to have a coaxial or triaxial speaker. What are these two terms? Well, it refers to the number of tweeters or midrange drivers the speaker has. Basically a coaxial speaker it two speakers in one. They have a tweeter and a woofer on the same axis. Triaxials have 3 speakers on the same axis and so forth.

And there is still one more upgrade or choice which is available. A component set-up is when there is a seperate woofer and tweeter mounted either on the same axis or in 2 different locations. Typically these speakers offer better clarity due to the seperation of speakers and the use of an external crossover to seperate the different frequencies to the speakers which play them best.!

audiopicThen lastly with the advent of using loudspeakers in automobiles alot of people are putting eminence and selenium full range speakers in the doors or back deck lids. These speakers are tremendously louder than standard car audio systems, but they are also ALOT more distorted. Because they don’t utlize any of the above designs they attempt to push all the sound through one speaker similiar to the way dual cone factory speakers do. This means they are crackly or often hissing sound. We are happy to install these for those of our customers that want them, however we also want to educate those consumers of the need for ‘better sounding audio’ not just louder speakers..
