Alot of people aren’t really familiar with what a sub woofer (also known as a woofer) really is or what it does. Part of that is because of how relatively new sub woofers are to people. Speakers have been around since the 1800′s. Sub woofers, however have only been around since 1960. Sub woofers are a great way to bring your music to life. Normal speakers are physically incapable of producing the lower frequencies that a sub woofer can. Could you imagine going to a rock concert, but the kick drum was broken? Sub woofer sizes typically range from 8"- 15"

Sub woofers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They typically start out as small as an 8″ Sub (there are exceptions to this) and they

range up to, on average, a 15″ Sub (there are some 18″ on the market as well as even a 32″). The way each size re-produces sound is completely different than the others. Typically, the larger the sub woofer the lower the note it’ll play, however there is a trade-off. 15″ & larger sub woofers typically don’t sound very good at all to the average listener. They are loud, but the sacrifice is in the quality of the sound.
