Directed Electronics said its Viper SmartStart smartphone app that can control a remote starter has surpassed the one million mark in downloads.

The app works with iPhone, Android or BlackBerry phones and a $199 module to control your remote start. Or there’s a $299 package including the remote start. Service plans start at $3 a month.
